Christ Church Cathedral is the cathedral church of the Diocese of British Columbia of the Anglican Church of Canada. Originally established in 1856 to improve upon the existing church at Fort Victoria, the current structure was built in 1929 and is currently one of the largest churches in Canada.

Bastion Square is located on the former site of Fort Victoria, a fur trading fort for the Hudson's Bay Company, which existed from 1843 to 1858. It was eventually enlarged to become the main trading post for the company, when the Oregon Territory treaty placed the US-Canada border at the 49th parallel north; this was a turning point in making Victoria the capital of the Colony of Vancouver Island and, later, the province of British Columbia. As Bastion Square, it is home to the British Columbia Maritime Museum, and several art galleries and cafes; as Fort Victoria, it is a National Historic Site of Canada.

Craigdarroch Castle is a National Historic Site of Canada built in 1890 as a family residence for a wealthy coal baron named Robert Dunsmuir. Located on the highest hill in the City of Victoria, it is one of the earliest, most flamboyant and best preserved of the bonanza castles built in Canada, built during an era when outward displays of wealth were common. After serving as a military hospital, a college, a school board office and music conservatory, it was finally converted to its present day status as a museum.

Built in 1863 during the Fraser Canyon gold rush, Congregation Emanu-El is the oldest surviving synagogue in Canada and the oldest synagogue building on the west coast of North America. The building is now a National Historic Site of Canada.

Fan-Tan Alley in Victoria's Chinatown is the narrowest designated street in Canada, at only 3 feet (0.9 meters) wide. It was originally a gambling district with restaurants, shops and opium dens; today, it is a tourist destination with art galleries, barber shops, cafes and apartments.

Victoria International Airport is the second busiest airport in British Columbia, after Vancouver International Airport, and one of the busiest in Canada in terms of passengers due to the many flights in and out of the airport. The airport serves Victoria, the capital of the province; the site started as a training field for the Canadian military before they left in 1952.

Royal Roads University is a former naval military college that was converted to a civilian institution in 1995. The university's main building, Hatley Castle, is part of a National Historic Site and is best known as the exterior filming locations in the X-Men films (as Professor X's school for mutants) and Smallville television series (as the Luthor Mansion).

The University of Victoria (UVic) is the largest university on Vancouver Island. Originally a college in the University of British Columbia system, it gained autonomy in 1963. The campus layout is peculiar; the majority of the campus lies inside a circular road that is exactly 600 meters (1969 feet) in diameter, split diagonally by the city limits of Saanich and Oak Bay.

Victoria's Inner Harbour, historically known as James Bay, is the waterfront along the city's downtown and also serves as its main marina and docks. It is flanked on land by the British Columbia Parliament Buildings, the Empress Hotel, the former Royal London Wax Museum and the Royal British Columbia Museum.

Formerly known as Victoria Eaton Centre, The Bay Centre opened in 1990 and was the first major shopping mall in downtown Victoria. It was built on two city blocks in Victoria's historic square, and remains one of the largest shopping malls in Greater Victoria.

The Royal British Columbia Museum is a large history museum that is also home to the British Columbia provincial archives. It serves as the center of the historical and cultural area around the Inner Harbour. Focusing mainly on aboriginal First Nations and colonial history, it also occasionally hosts traveling exhibits from outside the Pacific Northwest.

The Fairmont Empress hotel is a historic hotel opened in 1908. It is currently the hotel of choice for visiting members of the British royal family and was once frequented by writing legend Rudyard Kipling. It was originally built as a terminus hotel for the Canadian Pacific Railway's steamship line; after the line ceased to exist, it became a magnet for celebrities and famous personalities.

The Canadian Pacific Railway Steamship Terminal building is most well known as the former location of the Royal London Wax Museum, which operated in the building for over 40 years until 2010. The museum included over 50 wax figures and was North America's first exhibition of Tussaud wax figures from England. The museum moved out in 2010 after a lease dispute when the building was to be seismically upgraded.

The Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre is the largest arena in British Columbia outside of Vancouver; it will be home to the Western Hockey League's Victoria Royals and is formerly home to the Victoria Salmon Kings hockey team, the ECHL ex-affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks. It opened in 2005 and replaced the old Victoria Memorial Arena, which sat on the same site until its demolition in 2003.

Victoria's Chinatown is a designated National Historic Site that is the oldest one of its kind in Canada and second oldest in North America (after the one in San Francisco, California), dating back to 1858. Its beginnings stem from the Fraser Canyon Gold Rush at the time, triggering Chinese migration from both California and China. Its size and population peaked in 1911, until reducing in size until the 1980s when the neighborhood was revitalized.

Victoria's Mile Zero monument marks the official western end of the Trans-Canada Highway, a highway system that stretches from Canada's west coast to its east coast. From this point on, it continues in a series of routes that eventually lead to St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador on the easternmost tip of Canada.
